Description of tasks
-to open and close the Manor House each day
-to welcome visitors
-to offer guided tours of the house and grounds and village These may be day tours ,bus tours or evening Ghost Walks as numbers warrant . Hours will be adjusted accordingly to accommodate the flexible schedule
-to provide lectures on the history of the Manor House
-to manage correspondence in a timely manner of queries of archival information (by mail and email and phone)
-to assist with annual special events
-to research and prepare a themed exhibit for the Williamstown Fair (oldest continual fair in Canada) which is historically informative and attractive
-assist in working at the display at the Fair
-to assist in the preparation of advertising material promoting the heritage of the Manor House
-to maintain the public areas of the property in a neat and safe manner
-to learn the history of the Sir John Johnson Manor House as written in the Parks Canada publication “Ballaviellen: A Chronological History of the Sir John Johnson Milling Complex in the Village of Williamstown, Ontario 1784-1819”
-to communicate with Parks Canada site manager as they maintain the grounds.

STUDENT GARDENER/HISTORICAL INTERPRETER
Description of tasks
To research the typical varieties of plants and vegetables for a mid 19th century rural location in the first week of employment.
To recommend for purchase the plants, seeds and accessories as economically as possible using funds provided by the committee.
To continue with the soil preparation and the planting in late May.
To weed and water the flower beds and gardens as they progress throughout the summer and maintain them in a neat appearance.
To explain to the visitors the types of plants and the history of vegetable and flower gardening in the area.
To welcome visitors.
To maintain the interpretive signage on the grounds ( painting and cleaning).
